Pamela de Almeida is a native of
Long Beach, California and a graduate of Occidental College, where she was a
student of Joseph Di Tullio. Throughout her career, she has been a member
of professional symphony orchestras in four countries, including the Birmingham
Symphony (Alabama), the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Symphonia of Auckland
(New Zealand), the Sao Paulo State Symphony and the Sao Paulo Municipal Theater
Orchestras (Brazil); and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (Australia).
While in New Zealand, she was a National Recording Artist for the New Zealand
Broadcasting Corporation and a founding member of the "New Music Group", which
performed a subscription concert series and numerous radio broadcasts and toured
throughout New Zealand. During her eight-year residence in Australia, she was
also a National Recording Artists for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, a
member and soloist with the Adelaide Chamber Orchestra and a frequent guest
artist with the Adelaide String Quartet. She has taught at number of music
schools and summer festivals, including the New England Music Camp (Oakland,
Maine), Canterbury Summer School of Music (New Zealand), Auckland University
(NZ), University of Adelaide Summer School of Music (Australia), and was the
cello coach for the San Fernando Valley Youth Orchestras and summer chamber
music program (Cal State University Northridge) from 1987 to 1997.
